Lessons
All students will have lessons during band class. Lessons are 35% of the final grade. Daily practice is key to success in lessons!
Want Private Lessons?
Private lessons help greatly with advancement as an individual musician, and therefore, with the quality of our band as well. Check the form below for names and contact information of recommended private teachers.

Extra Concert Attendance Requirement
Allegro Band members are required to attend an additional band concert, other than their own, during each concert series. Dates for those can be found on the Home Page.
After attending a concert, students must turn in a one page reflection (hand written or typed) of their thoughts on the concert. It can be written as a concert review but doesn't have to. Students should write about whatever impacted them during the concert. This is to be turned in within two school days of the concert attended.
If a student is unable to attend, they may get a DVD from Mr. Dehnel or watch the link below and write a review as if attending the show live.
You may use ALL OF THE YOUTUBE VIDEOS UNDER EACH CONCERT as a substitute concert. Please watch and do your reflection on all listed videos.
Do not re-use any concert for credit or extra credit if you have already done so in a previous trimester.

Instrument Switching
Balanced instrumentation is crucial to the success of this band and the RAHS band program, so we immediately address that issue at the beginning of the year. If a section is too large, we will let students know in the first week and will ask for volunteers to try new instruments. Volunteers are NOT committed to that instrument. If they feel it isn't working, they may try a different instrument or return to their old one.
However, if next year's registration for band comes in and a section is still too large, we will revisit the issue. Student will again be given an opportunity to switch to another instrument, but if that doesn't rectify the matter, an audition will be held to see which players will move on.
Players who don't move on after the audition are still provided with two options to remain in band:

Players who don't move on after the audition are still provided with two options to remain in band:
- Stay on that instrument and play in Allegro Band again in 10th grade
- Switch instruments and move up to the 10-11th grade bands on the new instrument.
